Seven Oaks: A history of Freedom & Adventure
Seven Oaks will be one of the first cannabis brands available to Canadians upon legalization. Strongly rooted in the story of Canada, the brand’s founders, Grant McLeod and Myles Fontaine are proud Metis from Winnipeg. The Seven Oaks name itself commemorates the historical battle site where the Metis flag was flown for the first time — a symbol that is now synonymous with the Metis spirit of adventure and love of freedom.
The Seven Oaks brand was designed specifically for those who represent that same revolutionary spirit, and who believe that cannabis consumption shouldn’t have a negative connotation. The brand challenges the stereotypical “stoner” image; an image its co-founder, Grant McLeod, has been counteracting for years.
Grant McLeod is an active Metis lawyer with more than 13 years of legislative and regulatory experience working for the Attorney General’s Office (Ontario), the Privy Council Office (Ottawa), and for the United States government in Washington, DC and Afghanistan. Grant has also been a regular consumer of cannabis his entire adult life, and wanted to apply his regulatory skills to create a cannabis brand for like-minded, highly functional and professional consumers.
Myles Fontaine has acquired a wealth of knowledge across several industries. His educational background is in Commerce Sales and Marketing, and he has worked in commercial sales and been responsible for initiating and managing dozens of client relationships. He has also worked as a consultant and technical advisor for a media production company and has extensive experience in the fire service.
Together, Grant and Myles worked hard to narrow down the vast number of strains to suit their like-minded, highly functional and successful clientele.
The strains were carefully selected based on the experience users report:
Shishkaberry: A unique Indica-dominant hybrid with a mid-range THC percentage. The Sativa effects start strong, with consumers reporting that it is ideal for getting things done. This strain is ideal for end of day relaxation and stress relief, as it starts nice and uplifting, then gently eases you down. After a long day at the office, or an intense workout at the gym, this strain will help center and balance you.
Ultra Sour: The effects of this Sativa-dominant strain have been described by consumers as powerful: uplifting, great stimulation, heady euphoria, with some users saying it makes them feel talkative, creative and happy. Think of this strain when networking, entertaining clients, or getting through writing that proposal.
Cold Creek Kush: The effects of this Indica-dominant are reported by consumers to be relaxing without being too sleepy, great for socializing, meditation, or treating yourself after a busy day or intense workout. Because even the busiest of professionals still need to relax and get some rest.
Seven Oaks will be available in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and BC through government and privately-run storefronts and online stores — check your province’s distribution laws or ask your budtender for Seven Oaks. Products will initially include pouches of 1 g and 3.5 g of flower and 1 g pre-rolled joints, while tinctures and half-gram pre-rolled packs and other products will be coming in the near future.
